This species is known by the presence of columellate ascomata, and indistinct thalline margin flush with surrounding thallus, filled with (dark) brown-tipped columella that may become irregular. Also, this species has transversely septate, small, and hyaline ascospores.

Due to this species relation with tropical areas that still suffers anthropic actions, this species might be considered to be included as Near Threatened species.

Worldwide, this species occurs in 29 different countries. In Brazil, this species can be located in eight different states and a total of 41 occurrences.

Worldwide there are 460 occurrences in GBIF database, majorly distributed in Panama (56 records), Dominica (51 records), Sri Lanka (44 records).

This species is related to lowland and lower Montane Rainforest, Coastal Rainforest, Premontane Rainforest, especially related to primary and secondary forest remnants at Natural or Disturbed stage of conservations. In Brazil, This species can be found at the Amazon Forest and Atlantic Rainforest.

In Brazil, this species can be founded in Amazon Forest and Atlantic Rainforest that are biomes that still suffer anthropic actions in special wildfire, natural and criminal caused, and area suppression.

The certainty of taxonomy, pattern distribution, and abundance remains unknown, so actions that are orientated to taxonomy and biogeography need to be stimulated until a better understanding of this species status.
