Assessment Notes
Justification
This species is a widespread chanterelle mushroom of sub-Saharan Africa. It is not thought to approach the thresholds for listing as threatened under any criterion, and so is assessed as Least Concern.
Geographic range
There are records of this species from across sub-Saharan Africa, and so it is inferred that it would occur in most sub-Saharan Africa countries where there is suitable habitat, even if it has not yet been officially recorded in some yet.
Population and Trends
There is no available information on the population size and trend.
Population Trend: Unknown
Habitat and Ecology
This is a species of rain forest habitats (e.g. see Buyck
et al. 2016), although it is frequently misidentified from woodland (Buyck
et al. 2013).
Threats
With such a wide range, it is unlikely that the species faces any significant threats.
Conservation Actions
Further research is needed to get a clearer idea of the full distribution of the species and the population trend.
Use and Trade
This species is eaten in countries across its range (e.g. Guissou
et al. 2008, Muluwa
et al. 2013, Tibuhwa 2013, Kashiki
et al. 2020).
