Until now there are no phylogenetic data or DNA sequences available for this fungus. The identification is based only in morphological features.
This species was proposed in 1965 associated with palm leaves in Guatopo Forest (tropical humid forest) in Venezuela (Müller and Dennis 1965). After, this species was found in Thailand and now in Brazil associated with palm trees (Arecaceae). Due to the low number of occurrences and range of hosts in the world I suggest the inclusion of it in the near threatened category.
Found only in Venezuela, Brazil and Thailand.
There are few studies about this fungus.
Population Trend:
Associated with leaf spots of palm trees. Plant Pathogen.
In Brazil this fungus occurs in Atlantic forest Biome that are very threatened by deforestation. In addition presents a narrow host range and geographic distribution.
Protect and expand reserves of natural areas for the conservation of native plant species.
