Byssomerulius corium is easily distinguished due to the ceraceous, merulioid hymenophore or irpicoid appearance with pale ochraceous tints. The hyphal system is pseudodimitic, basidia are long-clavate, constricted, 17–40 × 4–6 µm, basidiospores are ellipsoid-cylindrical, with suprahilar depression, in some cases, slightly curved, 4.5–9 × 2.3–4.5 µm.

In Brazil, the species is found in Amazon Forest, Atlantic Forest and Cerrado.
In Brazil, this species is mostly recorded in the Atlantic Forest, a hotspot. The other few records are in the Amazonia (currently being deforested at the highest rates in the last decades) and Cerrado (also a hotspot).
About 1/3 of the records in Brazil are in unprotected areas.
Other areas should be studied in order to assess the distribution of this species.
