Rigidoporus microporus is characterized by the sessile basidiomata, orange-reddishbrown pileus surface, lack of cystidia, and subglobose basidiospores, 3.5–4.5(–5) × 3.5–4 µm (Gomes-Silva et al. 2014).
Widespread in several countries, with most records in Mexico, Costa Rica and Brazil.

It presents no evident threat, being very common at least in Brazil.
