Justification
Since the description of Cantharellus lacunosus there do not appear to be any subsequent records of the species. There is a lack of occurrence data and information on the habitat and ecology of the species, and it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution. It is therefore assessed as Data Deficient.Taxonomic notes
It is probably a synonym of Craterellus lutescens or C. tubaeformis, but the name has not been used much since its description (I. Olariaga Ibarguren in litt. 2022).Geographic range
