Assessment Notes

The content on this page is fetched from The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species: https://www.iucnredlist.org/species/226999100/227537270

Justification

Since the description of Cantharellus lacunosus there do not appear to be any subsequent records of the species. There is a lack of occurrence data and information on the habitat and ecology of the species, and it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution. It is therefore assessed as Data Deficient.

Taxonomic notes

It is probably a synonym of Craterellus lutescens or C. tubaeformis, but the name has not been used much since its description (I. Olariaga Ibarguren in litt. 2022).

Geographic range

The type was described from Zehušice in present-day Czechia (Velenovský 1920).

Population and Trends

It is only known from the type description.

Population Trend: unknown

Habitat and Ecology

The type specimen was described from mossy areas in forest (Velenovský 1920).

Threats

No threats can be accurately recognised due to lack of information about the full distribution of the species. However, World Resources Institute (2021) outlines a 12% decrease in forest cover from 2001-2019 in Czechia, primarily as a result of deforestation.

Conservation Actions

Confirmation is required of taxonomic status, population and distribution data and ecology to better assess the species.
