This species appears to only be confirmed from the type specimen, collected in Florida. Further information is required in order to more accurately assess the extinction risk of the species, and theoretically it could fall in any category. Therefore, it is assessed as Data Deficient.
At the time of description, it was noted that this species could eventually be placed in Paxillus (Burt 1926).
Chanterelle project
This species is only definitively known from a collection made on an oak stump in Florida (see Burt 1926). MyCoPortal (2024) only contains a record from the San Francisco Bay area, a very long way from the type collection, bringing into question its validity.
There are no available data on population size and trend.
Population Trend: Uncertain
This species was found growing on a Quercus stump in March, so it is assumed that the species may be associated with forests/woodland.
Further information is required before an accurate estimation of the threats facing this species can be made.
Research is needed to re-locate this species, and to get an idea of its full range and abundance. Taxonomic work to confirm its genus could also be conducted.
There is no information on use/trade of this species.
