Assessment Notes
Justification
This species has been recorded growing in Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. No further occurrences appear to be recorded outside of this species' initial type collection. Because of this, it is currently not possible to determine the population trend of this species. Therefore, this species is listed as Data Deficient until further information regarding this species' wild population distribution, habitat preferences, and potential threats arises.
Taxonomic notes
It is unlikely to be a
Cantharellus, as it is found on bark of living trees (Petch 1915) (I. Olariaga Ibarguren
in litt. 2022).
Geographic range
This species was originally described as growing in Peradeniya, Sri Lanka (Petch 1915).
Population and Trends
The current status of this species' wild population cannot be determined at this time, and without further research, its current trends remain uncertain.
Population Trend: unknown
Habitat and Ecology
This species was initially found growing on the bark of living trees in Peradeniya (Petch 1915), however the species of these trees are unknown.
Threats
Further investigation with regards to the full distribution of the species will be required before an accurate assessment of the threats it faces can be made.
Conservation Actions
The current wild population status of this species cannot be determined at this time. Further research is required in order to assess the current population status of this species, as well as the threats which may be affecting it, in order to accurately determine its classification. Further information into the habitat of this species, and specifically which species of trees it may grow on, could also be useful in assessing if this species may be in decline.
