Assessment Notes
Justification
Since the description of
Cantharellus applicatus there do not appear to be any subsequent records of the species. With a lack of occurrence data and information on the habitat and ecology of the species, it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution. It is therefore now assessed as Data Deficient.
Taxonomic notes
From the original description (see Léveillé 1843), it does not look like a
Cantharellus (I. Olariaga Ibarguren
in litt. 2022).
Geographic range
The type was collected from near Paris collected on wood (Saccardo 1897).
Population and Trends
It appears to be known only from the type specimen.
Population Trend: unknown
Habitat and Ecology
It has been described from wood (fallen branch) (see Saccardo 1897).
Threats
No major threats can be identified due to lack of information about the habitat and ecology of this species.
Conservation Actions
Confirmation is required of taxonomic status and records of presence and distribution to better assess this species.
